Kids Party Games for Your Child's Birthday Party

As a mom, it is your job to make sure that your kids' birthdays are always memorable. While you don't necessarily have to spend each birthday with a lavish party because let's face it, those types of parties cost a lot of money, you at least have to make sure that your child will have a blast on his or her special day. You can either take your kids out for a good meal and some play time at a recreation center or you can throw a do-it-yourself party right in your own home and let your child invite some friends.
Throwing do-it-yourself birthday parties are not as hard as you may think. In fact, you will be surprised at how much fun you can actually have planning and setting things in motion. To make thing easier, your first step is to decide on the theme for your child's party. When you already decide on a theme, everything else will be a lot easier because you'll know exactly what you would need to get for the party.
There shops online that sell themed party supplies which you can get at affordable prices. All you would need is to know the exact number of guests that will be attending the party and a credit card to pay for your purchases. In these packages, you will find everything you need from decorations, tableware, and even party games.
Speaking of party games, what's a soiree without them, right? As the host, you need to make sure that you have enough games to keep the kids occupied throughout the event. With so many kids party games available, choosing which ones to host at your child's party can be taxing. To make things easier, here are a few games that have been tried and tested by a lot of mommies all over the world.

Musical Chairs

If you accompany your kids to the birthday parties that they attend, you must know that this is probably the most played party game of all time. It involves setting up some chairs short of the number of participants in the game and having them walk around the chairs when the music is playing. When the music stops, they would need to find a seat as fast as they can. Those who didn't get to sit down will be out of the game. You take away a chair or two until there are only two participants left and one chair. The last man left standing, loses the game. While this may seem too simple and overused, the excitement that the kids feel while playing still makes it an all time favorite. To add a twist, you can use inflated balloons instead of chairs and tape them on to the floor. Then you tell the kids that they would need to sit on the balloon without popping it.

Scavenger Hunt

If you're holding the party in a venue where kids have enough room to roam around, this is one of the kids party games you can host. You can divide the kids into groups and have them assign a leader. Setting up is quite easy as you would only need a few minutes to hide the treasures and with the help of your older kids, everyone will surely have a blast. This party game is perfect for birthday parties that have a pirate theme because as you know, pirates are always looking for hidden treasure. Aside from that, kids and even adults can participate in this game. However, make sure to not hide the treasure too much and not make the clues too hard to decipher because you still need to remember that kids will be playing the game and not adults.

Obstacle Course

If you're holding your kid's party in a park, this is an excellent party game idea. All you would need is a baton, a stopwatch, and some strings which you will use to cordon off the course. This will encourage team play and camaraderie among the kids, which are very important qualities as they are growing up. Aside from that, the kids will be able to burn off all that excess energy from all the goodies they’ve eaten. However, make sure to include a note in the invitations that the kids should bring an extra shirt with them so they wouldn't have to wear sweaty shirts throughout the party.

Piñata

This is a game can be the your finale for the day. It's much like "Pin the tail on the donkey" in the sense that you would need to blind fold each kid at a time until they are able to smash the piñata in half so its contents will be released. You can buy themed piñatas at almost any party supply shop in your city or online and fill them up with goodies such as sweets and little toys. However, you need to keep in mind that the baton should only be given to older kids because the younger ones may end up hitting one another instead of the piñata.

Important Things to Remember

·         Make sure that you have enough game prizes to give away. Nothing disappoints kids more than not getting anything from the game that they participated in. For this reason, you need to make sure that you have prizes not only for the winners, but also for the runners up.
·         Safety should be a primary concern. If you have decided on hosting a scavenger hunt, make sure to only hide the clues in places where parents can still see their kids especially if your venue is a large place. You don't want any reports of lost kid now, would you?
·         Make sure to pick games that are age appropriate. You need to anticipate that not all of the kids at the party will be of the same age which is why you also need to think up of games that are suitable for both younger and older kids. You can even host games for the parents to ensure that everyone has a jolly good time at your kid's party.
·         Have fun. Kids birthday parties should not only be fun for the children, but they should also be fun for the parents and that includes you. Don't stress yourself out too much with the planning and execution because you can't really expect things to go as well as you expect. The most important thing is your child had fun at his or her party and so did you.
